Target audience

 TARGET AUDIENCE

After getting our idea mostly developed for our music video, we researched and spoke about the kind of audience we wanted to direct our video too judging on the song and the video itself overall. 

GENDER

As there are both females and males in our group, we decided that our song is definitely appropriate for both genders. Adding to this research, we asked the other people in our class whether they would listen to the song, and it was 50/50 for both females and males, so we know that our song is appropriate for both genders. The video as well we are using a mixture of both genders and it does not heavily lean towards the stereotype of both genders.

AGE

We believe our song is appropriate for ages 16-30s so young adults, as it leans towards a more mainstream rap genre. This music genre will be most popular in this age range.

SOCIO ECONOMIC GROUPS

Our chosen song will be most popular in C2-E of the Socio economic groups predominately E (specifically students) , as the general age for these groups are younger which will fit into our directed audience. We researched the demographic factual information to specify these terms.

ETHNICITY/NATIONALITY

As Jacob our artist is Jamaican but currently lives in the UK, both countries would be our target audience as we will reflect Jacobs nationality of Jamaican in the video with his clothes, however the music and setting would be in England, attracting both audiences.

SEXUALITY

Although we believe any sexuality could be appropriate to our song and music video, after researching we found that the mainstream rap genre is mostly popular in a heterosexual audience so we will direct it more to this category as it will be most popular here.

MARITIAL STATUS

As the song is speaking about a girl we know that single people or new couples are most likely  to listen to the music, rather than married couples for examples.

CHILDREN

We would not target children for our audience as rap is not a genre which children generally listen too according to statistics we researched, and because of the explicitness we would not direct our song towards children.
